Our department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the water collection system, and treatment plants. The water is treated, tested, metered and monitored to meet the most stringent requirements set down by the State Department of Environmental Quality, the Federal Department of Environmental Quality and the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.

The collection system includes approximately 140 producing wells with 200 miles of collection lines, 23 million gallons of storage tanks, seven pumping stations and two treatment plants. The department operates seven days a week to produce safe, potable water for residential, commercial and industrial customers.

Water Well Maintenance

Water Production has 140 water wells that must be periodically maintained. We are responsible for all the maintenance performed. Maintenance includes pulling pumps & motor assemblies and replacing the pump or motor, rehabbing the condition of the well screen, and disinfecting the well at the well site. We also do all maintenance on the motor control systems and automation of each well.

In the winter when water usage drops to a minimum, wells not in use will be winterized and placed offline. When spring arrives those wells are brought back online. They will be disinfected and put back online to pump into the water collection system.
