Transparency in Coverage

Federal Ruling

As of July 1, 2022, the Transparency in Coverage Final Rules requires health plans and issuers to publish all applicable rates for items and services covered.

Through Blue Cross Blue Shield, we are committed to supporting the Transparency in Coverage Rule by making Machine Readable Files (MRFs) available.

Plans are required to make the MRFs publicly accessible. This requires providing a link prepared by the insurer.

To meet this requirement, MRFs will be posted monthly on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma. This location is publicly available and accessible to all, no authentication is required.

Beginning July 1 and monthly thereafter, the MRFs will appear on this site.

Disclaimer: While these files are accessible to all, the file itself is large, written in Java Script Open Notation (JSON), which is a machine-readable language, and not easily interpreted or searchable.

Machine Readable Files

These Machine Readable Files are formatted to allow researchers, regulators, and application developers to more easily access and analyze data. The files may be large and download times may be significant. Internet speed, browser, and computer hardware may impact your download time/speed.

Depending on your operating system, you may need to download a tool to open. There are various tools available on the internet; some are free and some are at cost.

For more information on machine-readable files, please refer to the MRF ReadMe Guide(PDF, 762KB).
