Enid Celebrates Arbor Day in Tree Planting Ceremony

ENID, OK (April 15, 2025) –

WHAT: Tree Planting Ceremony

WHEN: Friday, April 25, 2025

WHERE: Brookside Park, 1201 Lookout Drive, Enid, Oklahoma

DETAILS: In celebration of Arbor Day and as a designated Tree City USA, the City of Enid will have a tree planting ceremony at Brookside Park at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 25.

Each year the Enid Tree Board members plan an annual event and invite the public to assist with those plantings to encourage a love for trees and to provide an opportunity to be involved in a hands-on environmentally rewarding educational experience.

The tree board has a downloadable “Tree Care and Selection Guide” on the City website: www.Enid.org/TreeBoard. According to the guide, some of the best trees for Enid are Bald cypress, Lacebark elm, Cedar elm, Chinese pistache, hackberry, Shumard oak, Shantung maple, Oklahoma redbud, Bur oak, American holly, Loblolly pine, and Caddo sugar maple.

City staff member Mandi O’Dea says, We encourage everyone to take time to appreciate and enjoy the beauty and benefits of trees. From enhancing visual appeal and increasing property values to providing essential shade, improving air quality, supporting wildlife habitats, and stabilizing soil, trees play a vital role in our environment and community. The trees we plant today will be a gift to future generations. As an old Chinese proverb wisely states, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now."
