Ongoing Disaster Recovery Efforts Continue
Enid, OK (May 12, 2026) – Recovery and cleanup operations continue across agricultural and residential areas affected by the tornado as coordinated volunteer efforts expand this week and into the coming days.
UPCOMING COMMUNITY MEETING
A community meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, at the Stride Bank Center Grand Ballroom. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 6 p.m. Officials and coordinating partners will provide updates on ongoing recovery efforts, volunteer coordination, and infrastructure progress.
This program is designed specifically for residents affected by the tornado and ongoing recovery efforts and is not open to the general public.
Affected residents may register for the meeting by scanning the QR code provided on the event graphic or through the email invitation sent by the Chamber to homeowners who previously provided email contact information.
If you have already RSVP’d and would like to submit a question for our resource partners, you are welcome to email it in advance to Ryan Zaloudek ryan@enidchamber.com. This will help us address the topics most important to you during the program.
Attendees can expect clear guidance on rebuilding and recovery resources, updates from community partners, opportunities to ask questions, and information designed to help residents navigate the next steps in the recovery process. The evening will also provide a space for connection, support, and access to local resource partners committed to assisting impacted residents.
LANDFILL CLOSURE NOTICE
Due to ongoing storm recovery operations within our own facilities and staffing impacts, the landfill will be CLOSED on Saturday, May 16. There will be no residential or commercial dumping accepted nor will drop offs be permitted. Signs have been put in place to inform the public of the upcoming closing.
We understand this may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience as the City of Enid focuses on restoring and stabilizing damage sustained at the landfill.
SBA RECOVERY ASSISTANCE
In addition, the Small Business Administration (SBA) will be available to assist homeowners with potential financial recovery resources, including possible rebuilding loans offset by insurance payouts. SBA representatives will be available in person daily, Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., through Friday, May 22, at the former Community Church of the Plains, located at 4205 South Van Buren.
ONGOING RECOVERY AND INFRASTRUCTURE WORK
In addition to volunteer cleanup efforts, planning is underway to continue removal of concrete foundations in impacted areas as part of long-term recovery and rebuilding operations.
