The City of Enid will have its annual Independence Day Holiday Celebration event at Meadowlake Park on Saturday, July 4th.
Schedule of Events 5:00 a.m. - Fishing Derby Registration/Check-In 5:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. - Fishing Derby 10:30 a.m. - Final Fish Weigh-In 11 a.m. - Biggest Fish Awards Noon - 9 p.m. - Paddle Boats (last boat out at 8:15 p.m.) Noon - 10 p.m. - Train Stop Express Concessions Noon - 10 p.m. - Miniature Golf & Sno Cones 3 p.m. - 9 p.m. - Enid Kiwanis Club Rides 8:30 p.m. - Enid Symphony Orchestra Dusk ~ 9:30 p.m. - Fireworks The Fishing Derby registration will be at pavilion 4 (northside) beginning at 5 a.m. All fishing derby participants must register and check in before going to their fishing post. Failure to register and comply by set rules will result in disqualification. More info can be found at: Enid.org/July4thCelebration. At 8:30 p.m., the Enid Symphony Orchestra will be performing under the direction of Douglas Newell, Music Director. The theme this year is, “The Night Sousa Came to Town.” The performance is sponsored by Security National Bank of Enid. Additional assist has been provided by Park Avenue Thrift, the Oklahoma Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Parking is available on the north side of the park for only those vehicles with disabled license plates or placards, a member of the Enid Symphony Orchestra, or workers for the Kiwanis rides and concession stand. To ensure safety of spectators, motorists and event staff, the following roads will be temporarily closed prior to the celebratory event: W. Rupe Avenue at Van Buren (U.S. 81), S. Van Buren Access Road at W. Rupe Avenue, and W. Rupe Avenue at S. Johnson Street. Following the fireworks, traffic from the Golf Course will be directed west on Rupe Avenue towards Cleveland Street and traffic from Meadowlake Park will be directed west on Rupe Avenue towards S. Johnson Street. Traffic on Van Buren south of W. Moore Avenue will be directed either east onto W. Moore Avenue or south on Van Buren toward Southgate Road. This will result in a temporary closure of Van Buren (U.S. 81) north of W. Moore Avenue. ###
