Oct. 18 Town Hall Meeting Recap

No decision was made. Commissioners held this town hall to hear from you before they vote. They asked people living closest to the sites to speak first.

Commissioners Cheryl Patterson (Ward 1), Whitney Roberts (Ward 4) and Frank Baker (Ward 3) attended. So did City Manager Jerald Gilbert, Assistant City Manager Scott Morris and City Attorney Melissa Blanton. The meeting was in the Nick Benson Ballroom at the Stride Bank Center.

What the Commission is deciding Oct. 27

The City Commission will vote on a comprehensive plan amendment and rezoning for three sites: the north, east and west campuses. The vote does not approve any data center.

The Commission is not deciding:

  • Whether a data center gets built. A company must still apply for an intensive use permit.
  • A site plan, building permit, water contract or power contract.
  • Tax incentives. No tax abatements have been offered for this project.
  • The south site. It is not in the city yet. No annexation date is set.
