2026 Doug Frantz

James “Doug” Frantz is recognized as a 2026 Enid Walk of Fame honoree for his lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and community involvement in Enid.

Frantz served his country in Vietnam, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. After returning home, he continued a life of service through business leadership, civic engagement, charitable work, and public office.

His community involvement includes service as president of both the Rotary Club of Enid and Enid Noon AMBUCS. He has also served in board roles with Stride Bank, the YMCA, the Enid Chamber of Commerce, the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center, and the Booker T. Washington Community Center. In addition, he twice chaired the annual United Way drive, helping support local programs and services.

Frantz also built a successful business career and earned professional recognition locally and nationally. When community leaders encouraged him to run for mayor during a financially difficult period for the city, he stepped forward to serve. He was elected to two terms as Mayor of Enid, both unopposed.

In 2011, Frantz received the Pillar of the Plains Award, one of Enid’s highest honors. Throughout his many roles, he has been recognized for his humility, integrity, and dedication to the community he calls home.

Through military service, business leadership, civic involvement, charitable work, and public office, James “Doug” Frantz has made a lasting contribution to Enid.
