2025 Jerry Allen
July 12, 1957 - October 1, 2023
Jerry Allen, a fifth generation Garfield County resident, had an interesting career. He owned several Enid restaurants and night clubs from 1978 to 1992. He then joined the family business, Henniger-Allen Funeral Home, until his father's passing. In 2009, he earned a securities license and started Allen Financial Services where he focused on Medicare health. Allen also partnered with small municipalities to aid them with code enforcement.
Jerry was on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Restaurant Association for three years and was active on the Tri-State board for 18 years as well as the Enid Park Board for over 23 years.
His service to the city began in 1994 when he was appointed for to the Enid City Commission for an unexpired term, then won the seat for a four-year term ending in 1999.
Jerry won the Ward One commission seat in 2019. While on the commission he served on several city boards over the years including: ERDA, CDBG, PEGASYS, Parks, Keep Enid Beautiful, several tax boards, as well as many others.
Jerry's passion really came into play with the City of Enid's parks. He was instrumental in creating Enid's first skatepark, and later helped push for an improved version. In fact, the skatepark was renamed as the "Jerry Allen Memorial Skate Park".
Jerry passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2023. His actions and dedication to the public will be remembered for generations to come.
