There are 10 employees assigned to the Landfill operation. These employees include two gate attendants, six heavy equipment operators, one groundskeeper and one foreman. The heavy equipment operators have many daily duties to attend to including compacting trash and hauling dirt to cover the trash.
The landfill accepts brush, grass and leaves which are recycled into reusable materials. A wood grinder is used to convert the brush into wood chips. These chips are used on the working face for trash cover and are also available to the public. Grass clippings and leaves are deposited into windrows for composting. The composted materials are cleaned by a machine that separates the composted materials from sticks and trash. The composted material is available to the public, free of charge, if loaded by the customer. The customer may have landfill staff load the composted material for them, using a front end loader, for a fee of $10.00 per bucket.
Location: The landfill is located at 1313 East Southgate Road between 10th and 16th Street. About 1 1/2 miles East of Van Buren.

Loads containing materials that could blow, leak, drop or escape from the vehicle must be secured. Landfill customers are required to properly secure their loads with tarps, nets or tie downs to prevent debris from blowing off during transit. Examples of materials that must be secured include: construction and demolition materials, yard waste (limbs, brush, grass and leaves), roofing materials, cardboard, paper and other lightweight items. A $20.00 surcharge will be added to your landfill charge if your load is not secured. (Enid Municipal CODE 2-6c-2c.)
