Oh lord, I am a woman, not a man, I am a Mother not a Dad,
I am a wife with responsibilities that men have never had,
I need understanding from all my peers, that I am not here to take away
a man's job, I am doing it because I care.
I took the job to enforce the law, to do my part in the fight to have justice
FOR ALL.
To be professional, to make a career, Great Lord, help me when
they say
I should not be here. I work the long hours, face all the dangers and do
the same
things that they do in law enforcement matters,Grant me the respect
like the others,
for I am one.
Set aside for every other one, Lord, being a policewoman is themost
challenging job I have ever done, be with me on my daily run, as you are
with us all,
I thank you for the ability to enforce the law.
Amen
Oh Almight God, who's great power
and eternal wisdom embraces the universe.
Watch over all policeman and law enforcement officers.
Protect them from harm in the performance of their duty to stop crime,
robberies, riot and violence.
We pray, help them keep our streets and homes safe by day and night.
We recommend them to your loving care because their duty is dangerous.
Grant them your unending strength and courage in their daily assignments.
Dear God, protect these brave men, grant them your almighty protection.
Unite them safely with their families after duty has ended.
Amen
A Police Officer is a composite of what all people are,
A mingling of saint and sinner, dust and deity, We, of all
people, are at once, the most needed and the most unwanted.
We are strangely nameless creatures, "Sir" to our face,
"Fuzz" to our backs. We must be such a diplomat that we
can settle differences between individuals so that each side
thinks they have won. If we are neat, We are conceited,
If we are careless, We are a bum, If we are pleasant,
We are a flirt, If we are not, We are a grouch.
The Police Officer, from a single human hair must be
able to describe the crime, the weapon, and the criminal. Plus
tell you where the criminal is hiding. But, if we catch him We
are lucky, If we dont, We are stupid. If we get promoted,
We have political pull, If we dont, we are not ambitious.
The Police Officer must be a minister, a social worker, a diplomat,
a tough guy and of course a genius to be able to feed our families
on a Police officers salary.
I have been where you fear to be,
I have seen what you fear to see,
I have done what you fear to do,
All these things I've done for you,
I am the person you lean upon,
The one you cast your scorn upon,
The one you bring your troubles to,
All these people I've been for you,
The one you ask to stand apart,
The one you feel should have no heart,
The one you call the officer in blue,
But I'm just a person, just like you.
And through the years I've come
to see,
That I'm not always what you ask of me,
So take this badge, take this gun,
Will you take it? Will anyone?
And when you watch a person die,
and hear a battered baby cry,
Then do you think that you can be,
All these things you ask of me?
Somebody killed a policeman today
and apart of America died,
A piece of our country he swore to protect
will be buried with him at his side,
the suspect that shot him will stand up in
court
with counsel demanding his rights,
while a young widowed mother must work
for her kids and spend many lonely night
The beat that he walked was a battle field
too,
just as if he'd gone off to war,
Though the flag of our nation wont fly half
mast,
to his name they will add a gold star,
Yes, somebody killed a Policeman today,
in your home town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
a cop put his life on the line,
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city
street
and he stands at each new rookies side,
He answered the call,of himself gave his all,
And a Part of America Died.
The Policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass,
he hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as bright as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman"
"How shall i deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders
and said, "No Lord, I guess I ain't
because those who carry badges,
Can't always be a saint.
"Ive had to work most sundays,
and at times my talk was rough
and sometimes I've been violent
because the streets are awfully tough."
And i never passed a cry for help
Though at times i shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I wept many tears.
"I know I dont deserve a place
Amoung the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fear."
"If you've a place for me, Lord
It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But, if you don't I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where saints had often trod,
As the policeman waited quietly,
for his judgement of his God,
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on heavens streets,
You've done your time in hell.
I am a deputy in a canine crew,
I've been trained to see it through,
When dangers near my ears perk up,
They taught me that as a little pup,
I'm often there to protect your rights,
My presence sometimes hinders fights.
I never attack with thoughts to kill,
When subduing one, my job I fill,
I never worry a single thought,
as to how I'll fare at a certain spot,
The love I have for ahandler's care,
is all I need each day to fare,
And if someday my luck turns bad,
I'll relish all the joys I've had,
To be with men who stand for good,
in a special kind of brotherhood,
The story's end by now you know
of how i tried for a better show,
I did my best though I did fall,
When I was called to give my all.
My eyes are your eyes,
to watch and protect you and yours,
My ears are your ears,
to hear and detect evil minds in the dark,
My nose is your nose,
to scent the invader of your domain,
And so you may live,
my life is also yours.
I PLEDGE MY COURAGE
courage to face and conquer my own fears;
courage to take me where others will not go...
I PLEDGE MY STRENGTH
strenght of body to protect others;
strength of spirit to lead others...
I PLEDGE MY DEDICATION
dedication to my job, to do it well;
dedication to my community, to keep it safe...
I PLEDGE MY CONCERN
for those who trust me,
and my compasion for those who need me.
