Library Expands Online Services

ENID, OK (April 20, 2012) - The Public Library of Enid and Garfield County is expanding its current online research and services collection. Signing Savvy and Transparent Languages Online will now be available to residents through the Public Library of Enid and Garfield County.

Signing Savvy is a complete resource for American Sign Language learning. American Sign Language is different from spoken languages because it is a visual language and is difficult to learn from a book alone. With Signing Savvy, signs are shown with live action videos of real people using sign language.
Transparent Languages Online gives web access to learn more than eighty different languages at your convenience. This program uses a guided learning experience to give a good start to each learner and exposes students to the language through classic learning exercises, games, and cultural and social connections.

Both programs are accessible through your home computer and/or iPhone and Android applications and a resident must have a valid library card. To access the programs, please visit http://www.enid.org/onlinetools and simply select the program(s). Users will then be prompted to create an identity. As a new user, each resident must type “enid” followed by the library card number with no spaces. Users will then be able to create a new login and password.

The Public Library of Enid and Garfield County is very excited about this expansion of services.

“We are pleased to now have the ability to meet the needs of the community in a progressive manner,” said Jade Powell, Supervisory Librarian of Public Services.
