Van Buren Street Resurfacing
Posted Date: 3/22/2012

ENID, OK (March 22, 2012) - Beginning Sunday, March 25, 2012, crews will beginning the resurfacing of Van Buren Street from Moore Avenue to Maine Street.

In order to minimize the impact on businesses and the traveling public, crews will begin nighttime closures of Van Buren Street at 6:00 p.m. and reopen at 7:00 a.m. No work is planned on Friday or Saturday nights. The project is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The City of Enid reminds citizens that during this nighttime project, loud noises will be heard. The resurfacing entails removal of a layer of asphalt by milling prior to placing new asphalt. The milling process is loud but the operation is a moving one and noise will not be concentrated in any one location for a long period of time. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation asks for the public’s patience during this much needed improvement to the highway system.

Motorists are urged to use an alternate route and to use extreme caution whenever entering any construction zone.
