The department is responsible for the safe and efficient movements of vehicles and pedestrians throughout the City of Enid. This department advises and assists other departments on traffic and technical issues. Systems include signalized intersections, school lights, networking, mobile communications, and microwave communications.
Duties include, but not limited to, maintenance, design electrical services & computer networking and Wi-Fi.
- Marks, installs and repairs all regulatory, warning, directional, & information signs.
- Coordinates paint and thermoplastic street markings, traffic control plans, detours for emergencies
- Installs and maintains S.C.A.D.A. systems (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and HMI software (Human Machine Interface) for the Water Production Department, which include 5 plants and 94 water wells, and the new and older Waste Water Management Facilities.
The City currently has 52 signalized intersections 32 of which are equipped with battery systems which will allow them to run for up to 2 hours during power outages. There are also 6 intersections within the City that have video detection systems and 3 with new radar detection. Staff is responsible for HVAC as well as building maintenance in all City facilities along with plumbing problems that arise.
