Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday
 
Description: The duties of the Commission shall include, but not be limited to, the following: The Commission shall plan and organize a yearly comprehensive tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to center around the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s national holiday.
 
Purpose: The duties of the Commission shall include, but not be limited to, the following: The Commission shall plan and organize a yearly comprehensive tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to center around the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s national holiday. The Commission shall also from time to time, make recommendations to the Mayor and Board of Commissioners concerning the promotion of equality and education concerning the need to continue the struggle against racial discrimination and poverty.
 
Qualifications: The commission consists of ten members comprised of the following: One Commissioner of the Mayor and Board of Commissioners; One representative of the Enid Public School System; One representative of the NAACP; One representative of the Library of Enid and Garfield County; One representative from PEGASYS; One representative from the Community Relations Commission; one representative of Southern Heights Community Organization; and three civic representatives.
 
Terms of Office: Terms are for three years.
 
Schedule of Meetings: The Commission meets the fourth Wednesday of each month.
