At the request of Visit Enid, the city of Enid’s official Destination Marketing Organization, “To the Stars” director Martha Stephens and producer Kristin Mann agreed to allow a showing of their yet-to-be-released movie in Enid.

“We are extremely grateful to Martha and Kristin for allowing us to have a screening of ‘To The Stars’ in the region where the movie was filmed. They could have easily said no,” said Visit Enid director Marcy Jarrett. “It’s like a ‘thank you’ to Enid and the region for its hospitality and cooperation with the filmmakers.”

“To The Stars” was based in Enid, with other filming locations in Wakita, Kremlin, Hennessey, Pond Creek, Bartlesville and Perry. Stephens made the movie in Oklahoma to take advantage of the Film Enhancement Rebate Program made available through the Oklahoma Film + Music Office.

“This allows many of the local people directly involved to have a chance to see the finished product,” Jarrett said, “and it allows the citizens of Enid and surrounding communities to continue showing support for filmmaking in Oklahoma.”

The movie stars Kara Hayward (Moonrise Kingdom), Liana Liberato (Light as a Feather), Malin Ackerman (27 Dresses), Tony Hale (Veep) and Jordana Spiro (My Boys). In a God-fearing small town in 1960s Oklahoma, bespectacled and reclusive teen Iris (Hayward) endures the booze-induced antics of her mother and daily doses of bullying from her classmates. She finds solace in Maggie (Liberato), the charismatic and enigmatic new girl at school, who hones in on Iris's untapped potential and coaxes her out of her shell. When Maggie's mysterious past can no longer be suppressed, the tiny community is thrown into a state of panic, leaving Maggie to take potentially drastic measures and inciting Iris to stand up for her friend and herself.

The Enid premiere of “To The Stars” will be just the second time the film has been shown in Oklahoma. General admission tickets are $5 - cash or check only - with no reserved seating and only 150 seats available in the theatre. Tickets are on sale now at the Enid Welcome Center, 201 W Garriott, or by phone at 580.233.ENID (3643), extension 1. Tickets also will be sold at the door if seating is available.
