New Bridge Beams on Van Buren Overpass
ENID, OK (June 7, 2019) –
City of Enid officials were notified Friday that new bridge beams on the Van Buren Overpass will be installed beginning Monday, June 10, 2019. The installation of support beams is part of the bridge replacement project for Highway 81 (Van Buren) overpass.
According to Travis Rose, Vice President of Operations for Bridges, Inc. the installation of the expansive and heavy beams will requiring the temporary closure of the northbound lane on Van Buren. Rose said, "workers will be flagging traffic for 15 minute intervals as we set beams in place." Currently, large cranes are stationed at the bridge and the placement of the new beams will start approximately around 1:00 pm on Monday, June 10. Rose said the work with the new beams should be completed by 5:00 pm Monday afternoon.
City of Enid Director of Engineering Chris Gdanski said, "getting these beams in place is a great step forward for the project. This is a good indication progress is being made despite the recent heavy rains."
